Home sweet home

Baby Danica's arrival home was a smooth transition. The dogs welcomed her with big wet noses. She doesn't squirm or even notice when they bark. We welcomed baby Danica home for Uncle Eric's birthday and all celebrated together. Charli makes sure that everyone who comes over sees baby Danica and knows that she is her little sister.

We had Danica's first Dr. appointment and Charli's 2.5 year old appointment together with Dr. Mike. Can you believe that their first measurements were almost identical. Danica weighed 7lbs. 3 oz 20 inches long and 32cm head circumference. Doctors look for babies to go back to their birth weight, my little eater keeps on gaining weight. She weighed in at 7lbs. 12oz, 20.5 inches in length, and 33cm just one week later for her second Doctor appointment with Doctor Charles.  We went to Chili's after her first appointment for our first date out as a family of four. We have 2 little girls, can you believe it???

Danica is Charli's twin that I have to make sure to distinguish whose baby picture belongs to who. She is she alert and likes to show off her 2 dimples when she smiles. Like I mentioned she is a very good eater and sleeper but when she is awake all she wants to do is talk, which sounds more like little grunts. She is too cute with her full head of blacks hair! Monumental moments:Her umbilical cord stump fell off about 8 days after she was born, at Grandma's house. Her first bath came the next day given by Mommy, and she goes through about 8-10 diapers a day mostly right after you change her you can hear the next event coming. We get up around 2 am and then around 6:30; not so bad and she eats about every 2 hours during the day about 4 oz each sitting. Our sleeping conditions are working as Dan and I have taken turns through the night sleeping with her in the family room not to wake Charli and it has really worked out well. There have been a few days where exhaustion has caught up so I have to say we didn't leave the house. but being home with family is awesome. Danica doesn't care where we go, she loves to be held and would be without a peep if you held her all day and night long.

Her hair has already started lightening and her eyes are beginning a blue transition. She is already so strong that I feel like she is ready to roll over. She enjoys sleeping on her stomach, at our discretion of course.

Charli cannot get enough of her that at one point when I went to let the dogs in, she was carrying her across the room. Yes carrying her across the room, I thought I was going to pass out. We have to have numerous conversations daily with Charli about being gentle because all she wants to do is hug her and hold her and play with her. You can't get mad at her for that, she loves her. I am thankful for the age difference right now as Charli's language has continued to become more extensive and has a few select words we can do without!

We have already done so many things in the first few weeks of Danica's beautiful life. We have gone to Grandma's house, an Oktoberfest (Charli likes to recite ziggy zaggy) party at a mansion; courtesy of Eric. We have gone to 2 art fairs, one in Naperville and one in Palatine. We went to another Oktoberfest in Palatine where both Danica and Charli loved the music. Danica has even gone to Charli's Martial Arts and Tumbling class, boy did Charli love that. We have gone out to cook in front of you twice, out for Mexican food, and Danica has met so many people: The Vrtjaks, Stantons, Emily and Oliver, the Stoltz family, the Krywanio's, Anne, Tara, Gavin, and Auntie Mindy who flew in from Colorado all in her first 3 weeks! Dan and I were able to get away for a 10:30pm Garth Brooks show and the girls stayed with Grandma and didn't even know we were gone!

Danica is currently experiencing baby acne, Charli did not have this. It shows the bond between the baby and the mom and all the hormones passing through. Fingers crossed and prayers that both my girls do not get acne in their teenage years and that Danica's will clear up soon. She also is quite gassy and hiccuppy which is also common in 3-4 week old babies. This adds to her vocalness, she is quite the talker, grunter, and moaner as I mentioned earlier; she is a great communicator!

The weather is beautiful so I look forward to a daily walk with Danica. She just loves to be swaddled and held so I spend most of my time doing that as I try to snap some pictures as well. She is so precious and sweet and I can already tell how intelligent she is, her personality is already magnetic. It is amazing having two daughters. The other night I had Danica on my lap and my arm around Charli tickling her head and I really think I was experiencing paradise, if only those moments could last forever. I am so blessed, it makes you realize just what you have and that each day should be lived to the fullest.
